James J. Vassallo Jr. has nearly 20 years of experience working with real estate transactions. Presently, he is a title agent with Leader Settlement Services, LLC. Away from his professional life, James J. Vassallo Jr. is interested in powerlifting.
Powerlifting, as well as weightlifting, involves lifting weights. However, both pursuits are different, and many people, including fitness enthusiasts, would be hard-pressed to distinguish between the two. Powerlifting is a more streamlined type of lifting. It involves the use of brute strength to lift weights in one single plane of motion. Powerlifters lift only based on three core movements; bench, the squat, and the deadlift. These movements only involve one plane of motion and one lift, but the weights are usually much heavier than bodybuilders’ multiple-rep weights.
The standard type of weightlifting is Olympic weightlifting, which is quite technical. It is similar to powerlifting, but it involves more movements than squats, benches, and deadlifts. Fundamentally, weightlifting is about the compound lifts, including the “snatch,” “jerk,” and “clean.” Weightlifting also incorporates mobility and flexibility with compound movements such as overhead press and front squats.
